You are now ready to begin the Computer Ethics and Internet Safety standard.

Learning Objective for this standard:

  • When you have completed this standard you will be able to demonstrate legal and ethical behaviors when working with information and technology resources. These resources include, but are not limited to print, CD, software use and software programs and the Internet.
  • In addition you will be able to discuss with your fellow students, your teachers and your parents the consequences of misuse of these resources.

Directions:
Listed below are the grading criteria for this standard. Please review the criteria.

When you have finished reviewing the criteria you will:

  • Click the mouse on the Back to Main Page link found at the top of this page.
  • Ask the teacher for the grading sheet--you will keep this sheet in your notebook.
  • Ask the teacher for the level 1 questions.
  • The answers to these questions will be found in the 14 sections listed under Contents.
  • Read the material and answer the questions and remember that you will be taking a test upon the completion of this material.

When you have completed all of Level 1 and taken the test you will then proceed to Level 2.

 

Computer Ethics Grading

To achieve a grade of “C” each student must complete the following:

Complete all readings and questions found in the Computer and Internet Ethics basic requirements.

Pass the final Computer Ethics test with a minimum grade of 70%.


To achieve a grade of “B” a student must complete the work prescribed for a C and in addition must complete the following:

Complete 3 ethics web site reviews and achieve a passing grade of a minimum of 22 points for B and 27 for A for each summary. (Rubric Available)

Complete a computer ethics Poster and achieve a passing grade of a minimum of 24 points for B and 27 for A. (Rubric Available)

To achieve a grade of “A” a student must complete all of the work prescribed for a grade of C and B and in addition must complete the following:

Complete a Multimedia computer ethics project and achieve a grade of 37 points (34 points for a B). (Rubric Available)

Note: A minimum grade of C must be attained in order for a student to move on to the next Tech Lab Standard.
