Program Objectives:
1. Teachers will learn how to make a simple song in Garageband.
2. Teachers will learn how to import and organize songs in iTunes.
3. Teachers will learn how to import photographs into iPhoto and touch up photos.
4. Teachers will learn how to create a movie in iMovie HD and integrate all the iLife software together.

Program outline and schedule:

8:00- 8:15 Overview and logging on to computers

  • Log-in by Clicking on GUIDED STUDY in the user field and GS in the password field.
  • Download this Haiku folder to your desktop---Haiku Folder

Final Project---> Create a video
Think about a project! After lunch...maybe sooner....we're going to start working on a video project. You will need to pick a topic from your class and create a video to teach the concept! You will combine the music you created, music you imported, images you saved in iPhoto, and video.

8:15 - 9:00 Garageband

9:00-9:30 Podcasting (IF TIME.....)

  • Explore the differenet podcasts at the iTunes music store
  • Activity #2-Create a simple podcast, using pictures, sounds, and music

9:30 - 9:45 iTunes

  • music store/ podcasts / preferences
  • Importing songs in a computer
  • Importing and organizing songs
  • Activity #3- Import a CD into iTunes and selected songs you may want for your video.

9:30- 10:30 iPhoto

  • iPhoto tutorial----> Click here for info on the new iPhoto '08
  • Putting photos into the computer/ organzing
  • creating a photo album / postcards/etc.
  • buying prints--> Ordering prints / Costco / Flickr

  • Activity #4- Take at least 5 pictures and export the picutures in a Quicktime video of a picture you have created OR a webpage photoalbum.

10:30 -11:30 iMovie HD

  • Intermediate/ on-your-own resources
  • importing footage, editing a movie, work space, integrating media
  • Activity #5- Final Project- You will need to pick a topic from your class and create a video to teach the concept! You will combine the music you created, music you imported, images you saved in iPhoto, and video.

 

11:30-12:30 Lunch

12:30 - 2:30 Create iMovie project from pictures, Garageband song, music from iTunes, and video footage

2:30- 3:00 iDVD- Turn your iMovie project into a DVD.

3:00 - 3:30 iWeb - Web Design Software (if time)

3:30 - 4:00 Evaluations / Burn work on DVD
