Since I started in the tech lab I have become very familiar with the Macintosh and all of it's splendor. You could say that I am currently a "MacAddict." We have about 25 computers in the tech lab and they are all wired to the internet through an ethernet network. This past summer the networking was upgraded to 100 Base T networking and a T-1 connection to the outside world. This has made realtime surfing and teaching with the internet possible and practicle.During the past six years I have developed much of the curriculum that I currently use in the lab, although many of the concepts and ideas came from the original Creative Learning Systems curriculum. I enjoy creating new student curriculum and curriculum for other teachers to use. I was involved in the, now defunct, Image Processing For Teaching (IPT) program, and was published in the spring 1997 issue of Curriculum and Technology Quarterly. This is a publication put out by the ASCD (Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development). I have presented at one of the IPT national conferences. In 1996 I did a presentation about stop-frame-animation and claymation using NIH Image. I have also been an instructor for the image processing inservices offered through the Center for Image Processing. I am involved with many teacher trainings in the field of technology/science for the Wenatchee School District. As a technology trainer I also teach many courses through our local E.S.D. As you can tell my current love on the computer is the creation of web pages. I started this page(1994) in raw HTML, but have gone to the simpler Claris Home Page, but now am using Dreamweaver.. I am currently creating several different pages for the programs that I am involved in. I am very proud of my Track and Field page, check it out. I have also taken on the responisibility of webmaster for my school and have totally retooled our site for Pioneer Middle School. Outside of school I am interested in the outdoors, working in the yard, relaxing with my lovely wife Taunya, playing with my black lab and just sitting in front of the stereo. As of June 1998, my life changed for the better with the addition of our first child Kayli Larynn Brown! It has been the greatest change you could ever imagine, I am loving every minute of it. But a new change came agoin on November 2nd, 2000 with the addition of our second child; Brayden Thomas Brown. Life couldn't be better! |
